This is a portrait of Abraham Prescott Jr. (1809-1845). The portrait shows a seated figure, almost full face. The subject's left hand rests on the arm of the chair. He wears a dark coat, black stock, high collar and a low-cut black satin waistcoat. Further Remarks: Mr. Prescott was born in Westford, Massachusetts. He died unmarried at Utica, New York, having previously resided at New Hartford, New York, where his uncle, Oliver Prescott, was a town official.
