This is a fireboard picturing a view of North Salem in the foreground and looking northeast up the coast toward the town of Beverly. The two communities were linked by the Essex or Beverly Bridge visible to the right, at the mouth of the North River. The scene is bordered in plain cream colored paint with two cut out rectangles along the bottom for andirons. Further Remarks: From the Andrew-Safford House at 13 Washington Square, Salem, which was completed for John Andrew in 1819. the Safford House is part of the collected of the Peabody Essex Museum.
