- Mirror with bells, 5th-6th century
- Gift of Edward Sylvester Morse, 1898
This is a Japanese bronze mirror with five bells. The bells are a Japanese addition to mirrors originally copied from Chinese imported prototypes, and it is thought that the bells were added in order to produce sounds when carried by shamanesses in ritual dances.
