This is a birch bark wall pocket. The birch bark pieces are sewn together with split root. There is a bark loop at the top, used to hang the object on the wall. The loop is not secured to the object and lays loosely in position. The object is ornamented with floral and geometric patterns, formed by scraping away a layer of the bark to reveal the lighter layer below.
